OUR LEGACY

OUR HERITAGE

OLYMRA was born from a deep reverence for the untamed beauty of Mount Olympus and its rare, ancient botanicals. Inspired by the grandeur of Mount Olympus, OLYMRA embodies the allure of the past, reimagined for the present through the art of scent. Saffron, one of the world's most precious ingredients, has been revered for centuries, from the palaces of Minoan Crete to the rituals of ancient Greece, symbolising opulence, healing, and the divine.

Our logo is a modern homage to this rich heritage, inspired by the saffron ideogram found on the Linear B tablets of the ancient Knossos Palace (located in Crete, Greece). What was once seven simple strokes representing the crocus flower’s delicate stigmas has been reimagined into fluid, elongated curves, evoking elegance, movement, and balance. Just as OLYMRA bridges the past and present through scent, our emblem reflects the harmony between ancient artistry and modern refinement.

OUR FOUNDER

Dr. Frida Michailidou is an award-winning scientist, driven by a deep, lifelong passion for nature and innovation. Born and raised in Greece, she was fascinated by the scents of Greece’s rich botanical heritage from a young age, inspiring her journey into the world of sustainable chemistry and fragrance. She studied and worked as a researcher in Greece, France, Great Britain, China, Germany and Switzerland.

As a Lecturer and Collegium Fellow at ETH Zurich, she led a scientific expedition to Mt Olympus and became the first to ever decode the scents of its rare flora using advanced, non-destructive technology. Honoured as an MIT Innovator Under 35 Europe, a TEDx speaker, and recipient of the UK Alumni Award for Science and Sustainability, she has brought her vision to a global stage. OLYMRA became the living example of her vision. By launching OLYMRA, she brings to life the culmination of her lifelong passion—merging botanical and Greek heritage with modern science to craft fragrances that are both timeless and sustainable.
